This blog is dedicated to the ongoing ministry and partnership Ecclesia Hollywood has with Homecare Spiritual Fellowship and Ghetto Light Youth in the Kibera slum of Nairobi, Kenya.
Ecclesia has been partnered with Homecare and Ghetto Light for the past several years and this blog will serve to track the teams traveling to Kenya for our annual summer Outreach, as well as posting up-to-date information on exciting and important news regarding Kenya and these ministries.
Karibu sana! (You are most welcome!)

After visiting Kibera, at first glance it could seem like a hopeless situation. Too big, too complex and too much red tape for us to make a difference. If the Kenyan government doesn’t officially recognize Kibera as a place than where do we even begin? How can we support our friends and the kids in Kenya?
It was out of our passion for Kibera and it’s residents that Tirzah International (a branch of Global Action, one of our sending partners) developed a sponsorship program (currently for Home Care Fellowship and hopefully in the future for Ghetto Light Youth as well). As a group we realized that even in this dire situation there is hope. Hope for a generation of kids in Kibera through education. Education is one of the best ways to provide an opportunity and hope for Kibera to children who might otherwise not have that chance. By sponsoring a child throughout their education we can provide an opportunity for not only the child but their family and in turn their community. That’s why as a group our Ecclesia Kenya team has decided to “invest in a generation” by sponsoring the educations of the kids in Home Care Fellowship and you can help! With over 400 children in Home Care we need YOUR HELP! We’re looking for everyone who feels called to sponsor this generation with us!
How can you sponsor a child? One time or reoccurring donations can be made through Tirzah…
